Got A Loved One Living Abroad? You’re Definitely Not Alone

Out of every six Irish-born people, one person is currently living abroad, according to a report researched by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the Central Statistics Office.

This means that a whopping 17.5% of people over the age of 15 years old who were born in Ireland were living abroad in 2014, topping the survey of 34 OECD member countries.

Ireland has passed out New Zealand, Portugal and Mexico by several percentage points.

While the CSO says the rate of emigration has begun to slow down considerably, net migration is still negative, meaning that, even still, more people are leaving Ireland than are moving there.
