Recycled Sewage Water Could Soon Be Pumped Into Dublin Homes

In the next number of years, houses in Dublin could potentially be pumped with recycled sewage water.

A new report published in the Irish Independent looked at options for providing clean water over the next 25 years, and one of the ideas put forward was to use reclaimed water that would be drawn from treatment plants and used for "irrigation and human consumption".

In the report, Dublin has been singled out as the biggest problem area and clean water shortages in the city have become a lot more common in more recent years.

Recycling waste water is already used in several other countries across the globe including Australia and parts of the US - but Irish Water has yet to make a final decision on the matter.

A pipe pumping water from the River Shannon into Dublin has already gotten to green light but the water company are looking at other options that can help.
