There was no better feeling when you were younger than hearing that you were heading to Belfast for two days to do all of this year's Christmas shopping.
Similar to the motorist that drives 3 miles in order to get 'the cheapest' petrol or diesel, you'd often wonder if you're actually saving money by buying your shopping elsewhere considering the trek.
So, here are some of this year's top Christmas purchases and their prices here compared to the North.
It's the pound vs the euro - Fight.
The Brand New iPhone:
The iPhone XS is going for a massive €1,179 in Dublin but in Northern Ireland, you can scoop it up for the slightly cheaper, £999 (€1,121) meaning you'll pocket around €50 by buying it in Northern Ireland.
And while we're on the subject...
AirPods:
The Irish Independent found that these babies are actually cheaper in the south of the country and you can save yourself over €15 if you choose to purchase in the Republic.
Price differences can be found here if you're thinking about buying them for someone this year.
Cadburys Medium Selection Box:
We loveeeee our chocolate.
According to The Irish Times, this will set you back about €16-18 in Ireland but can be purchased in some shops in Northern Ireland for as little as £10 which roughly works out around €10.
Smirnoff, Captain Morgan, Bacardi 1litre:
The one that everybody goes ga-ga over. We bulk buy drink before Christmas as if shops won't be open THE VERY NEXT DAY.
According to firstandlastofflicence, you can get these for £18 (€20) but buying them at home could cost you between €25-€30 depending on how good of an offer is being thrown your way.
As well as this, 1litre of Jameson is going for £25 (€28) could cost you as much as €40 in the Republic.
Diesel & Petrol:
Unleaded prices in Northern Ireland at the moment as of the end of November are on average 127.5 p/litre (141.1c)
Diesel prices on average in the North are 135.9 p/litre which works out at around 150.4c/litre.
So if you're a diesel head, we recommend getting your fill in the Republic before you head off.
Christmas Cards:
We know what you're thinking, nobody really buys bulks of Christmas cards anymore except maybe the auld paid.
But even if you're just purchasing one for your 'significant other' or you have no more than 5 to buy, it's better to throw it in with the Christmas shopping in Northern Ireland.
Hallmark in NI are selling very nice cards for as little as £3.40 (€3.77) but you'd be lucky to get a card for less than €5 in the Republic.
If you are planning on buying three cards or more this Christmas, it's worth going for Easons' '3 for 2' offer which could see you bag three cards for as little as €9.
Lynx Gift Set:
Because if it's the 25th of December and some aunty hasn't shipped in a last-minute Lynx gift set to the house, did they know it was Christmas time at all?
You can purchase this bad boy for a cheap €9.50 in the Republic which we thought was a steal until we came across this Tesco offer in the North.
They've thrown in a bloody powerbank (for some reason) with the giftset and have dropped the price from £16 to £8 and now down to £6 (€6)

Mac's 'Shiny Pretty Things'
This gift set is set to be v popular this year for those into their make-up. We've pitched Brown Thomas up against Debenhams and the difference between the two is enough to bag yourself a lipstick.
Brown Thomas: €49
Debenhams: £35.10 (€38)
With that amount of saving, you can afford to impulse buy the mini mac lipstick for €12.
