This Liffey Valley Development Might Be In Serious Danger

The €150 million development project for Liffey Valley Shopping Centre is in jeopardy if a solution cannot be found to the plan's parking situation.

The ambitious plan included the creation of an additional 22,000 sq. m. of retail space, a new civic plaza, a 2,500 seat Olympic-sized indoor ice arena, and 1,800 car parking spaces.

While Dublin City Council gave the green light to the project last year, it rejected the plans for additional parking spaces, leaving a major problem for Liffey Valley.

Talking to Independent.ie, Liffey Valley centre director Denis O'Connell said that the development plans would have to be reviewed if the parking situation is not rectified. He said,

We'll have to review it. We've seven acres to develop. We have the permission and the council has been supportive. The lack of additional carpark space is a setback. We're just going to have to see. We're a bit up in the air at the moment.
