PIC: This Iconic Dublin Moment Is Now Immortalised In The Coppers Laneway

James Fenton

Given the success of the Dublin football team since 2011, it’s easy to forget the barren spell that preceded this current wave of success.

The Boys in Blue went 16 years without winning the All-Ireland before captain Bryan Cullen raised Sam Maguire aloft at Croke Park that September after the narrowest of victories over Kerry.

Any Dub who was there or who watched on TV around the world will never forget when Cullen uttered the immortal line “see you all in Coppers” during the traditional winning captain’s speech at GAA HQ.

His words resonated with anyone who has ever taken the stroll through the laneway next to Copper Face Jacks at Camden Place and now there’s a reminder of that famous day in that very spot.

A happy sight for any Dub on their next night out we’re sure.

Following further success in 2013, 2015 and 2016 will the Dubs be celebrating in Coppers again on September 17?
