“I’d Like To Take This Opportunity To Apologise… To Absolutely Nobody!”

James Fenton

Conor McGregor’s meteroic rise continued in the early hours of this morning at Madison Square Garden as he became the first ever UFC fighter to hold two titles in two separate divisions simultaneously.

After taking the lightweight belt by defeating Eddie Alvarez in the second round in the famous New York arena, the boy from Crumlin posed with his new bling as well as the featherweight title he has held since beating José Aldo last year.

Surrounded by a vociferous Irish crowd who traveled to the Big Apple for UFC 205, The Notorious thanked his supporters before taking a couple of characteristic swipes at his fellow fighters and the UFC as a whole. Have a look, courtesy of Eir Sport:

McGregor’s victory completes an incredible weekend for Irish sport with the national football and rugby teams also securing victory on Saturday evening.

Whether you were supporting our boys from home, Vienna, New York, or anywhere else in the world, all we can say is… Olé, Olé, Olé!
