WATCH: This Video Of Irish Kids And Pensioners Talking About Paddy’s Day Is Heartwarming <3

Sarah

Prepare to have your cynical Paddy’s Day hearts pure melted after watching this adorable video of “the young, and the young at heart”, as Irish schoolchildren and pensioners explore the meaning of St. Patrick’s Day.

The video visits a local Dublin school and a nursing home where the kids and golden oldies talk about their memories of St. Patrick’s Day and the traditions that come with it.

One old lady fondly recalls how she used to fill a little box with shamrock, and post it off to America where all they got was “a box of weeds”.

As expected, the kids are absolutely gas, with one telling a pretty great ‘Knock Knock’ joke, and another warning that if you don’t wear green a leprechaun will pinch your leg – “but you can’t see him”.

Watch the clip in full below, it will brighten your day for sure.

The video was made by Ian White and communications agency Drury PN, and Creative Director Breena Cooper said that: Ireland is changing and our views are changing with it. We wanted to take a familiar and fiercely held ‘Irishism’ in St Patrick’s Day and look at it through the eyes of the young and the older.

“The video is something special, a time capsule and perfect timing for St Patrick’s Day celebrations.”
