HSE Issues Warning To Pregnant Women In Dublin Ahead Of Pope Visit This Weekend

The city is preparing to go into lockdown ahead of Pope Francis' visit this weekend, with a lengthy list of road closures released last week.

Now the HSE has warned that pregnant women who are due this weekend should allow extra time for any journeys to and across Dublin City from 6am to 11pm on Sunday 26 August, according to The Journal.

The organisation said “is committed to ensuring that there is minimum disruption to normal health social care related services during this visit and all hospitals will be operating as normal".

The warning comes after a joke on The Garda Twitter account fell flat this week.

They tweeted: "An Garda Siochana are promoting home births in the Dublin areas on Sunday next There is also a great deal of public transport available also."

After the tweet received a very mixed response, they replied with an "only joking!" disclaimer.
