Valentines Day is fast approaching, and no doubt many of you in long term relationships might be excitedly wondering if it’s the perfect day to propose. Well we’ve heard our fair share of questionable proposal locations, so we decided to take out all the hard work out and list the top 10 places to propose in Dublin this Valentines.

10. The Shrine Of St.Valentine, Whitefriar Street Church

Okay, so maybe you didn’t have a church in mind when you were planning your proposal, but the Whitefriar Street Church houses a relic of St. Valentine. What could be more romantic that asking someone to marry you in front of the remains of the Patron Saint of Love?

9. The Chester Beatty Roof Top Garden

If you fancy something different, then why not take a stroll through Dublin Castle after enjoying a delicious brunch nearby? Finish up your walk at the Chester Beatty roof top garden where you can enjoy views of Dublin Castle and the city skyline. It was designed to be an oasis of calm within the busy city, so if you’re the nervous type maybe these tranquil gardens will calm your nerves!

8. Phoenix Park

Phoenix Park is a great place to propose, and it’s so big that you can always be sure to find a quiet spot to propose without an audience. We suggest a stroll alongside all the pretty deer.

7. The Aviva Stadium – Ireland V France

Is your other half rugby obsessed? If so, then try score some tickets for the match and pop the question just as Ireland scores an incredible try… With that much joyous excitement and atmosphere, who could say no?!

6. Dollymount Strand

Dollymount has a gorgeous view of Dublin Bay and there is always some sort of activity on the beach, with kite surfers braving the wind and waves. Leave your wetsuits at home and bring a regular kite instead and enjoy a fun filled walk on the beach before getting down on one knee!

5. The Merrion Hotel

If you’re not really the outdoorsy type then the best thing for it is to book a night at the fabulously ritzy Merrion Hotel. You may as well go all out with champagne, chocolates and rose petals. This luxurious hotel would make the perfect proposal setting!

4. Howth Head

Go for a Saturday morning hike along Howth Head, taking in the fresh sea air and beautiful surroundings. Just make sure not to drop the ring, or you’ll probably never find it again!

3. Marsh’s Library

While libraries might not usually get your pulse racing, this particular library is an incredible hidden gem that’s waiting to be discovered. Old oak wooden shelves filled with rare books and manuscripts will transport you back to the 18th century. If the love of your life is the bookish type, we think this spot is perfect. You definitely won’t hear too many other people with the same engagement story!

2. Dun Laoghaire Bandstand

Dun Laoghaire pier is always a stunning place for a walk, and no matter what the weather is like the view is always striking. The bandstand would make the ultimate evening proposal location. Get a friend to help you with some outdoor candles to set the mood, you’ll score extra points if you manage to get someone strumming a guitar in the background. How could he/she say no?!

1. The Dublin Mountains

Either sunrise or sunset atop the Dublin Mountains would make the perfect setting for a proposal, we can’t think of anything more romantic… Just make sure you don’t drop the ring, you’ll never find it again up there!
