Jaki’s story
I was looking for my first job in Melbourne and was delighted that I got called for an interview straight away.
I got to the location, which turned out to be the house of the employer. He greeted me at the door wearing a Hawaiian shirt on top and a towel on the bottom. I was scared, but for some reason still went up to his kitchen.
He left for a moment before returning wearing a more respectable sarong in place of the towel.
Anyhow, I got the job and it was every bit as awful as you’d expect a job to be when the interviewer began the whole process in a towel. He was crazy, changeable, impatient and demanding.
He let me go after a week for “pretending to know what I was doing” – of course, I did know, he just had it in his head I was bluffing.
I was just relieved to get out alive.
