With homelessness rates higher than ever, charities are having to think outside the box in order to fundraise.. One such charity, Focus Ireland, have just launched a new range of jams and chutneys called Taste of Home as an initiative which will raise vital funds.
The social enterprise project has been developed to provide education, training and work experience to people who are homeless or at risk of losing their home.
The Taste of Home products were developed by Focus Ireland customers and staff who worked together to devise a business plan to produce and sell the range of jams and chutneys.
The charity began over 30 years ago in their coffee shop in Temple Bar, each year 40,000 meals are produced from this location for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and this also is where the jams and chutney are made.
The Taste of Home range is currently stocked in 19 Super Valu stores in Dublin with plans are already in place to increase stockists nationwide. You can choose from the Jumbleberry Jam, Pear & Walnut Chutney, Tomato Relish or Strawberry and Vanilla Jam depending on whether you’re in the mood for sweet or savoury.
€0.89 from every €1 goes to the charity’s frontline services across the country, and we can confirm that they products taste absolutely delish!
