Free Drug Testing In Irish Nightclubs Could Be On The Cards Very Soon

katedemolder

Free and safe drug testing could be on the cards for Irish nightclubs and festivals in the coming months, in an attempt to crack down on dangerous drugs and dodgy substances being sold to the masses.

According to 98fm, a new plan is being submitted to the government which will see users being able to check the ‘purity’ of drugs bought from dealers.

A committee has been established to develop a new national drugs strategy, in response to the number of accidental drug deaths Ireland has seen in recent years, and the group will submit its final report to Government within the next three weeks.

The aim of the initiative is to reduce the risk of accidental drug deaths by potentially lethal ingredients.

The testing would done by placing samples of the drug into a container, which is then tested in an off-site mobile lab.

Similar drug testing services already exist in many member states of the European Union such as Spain, Portugal, Belgium and the Netherlands.
