Here Are The First Wave Of Drones That Could Replace Waiters

niallharbison

Drones are all the rage these days for making sexy ariel videos, and it looks like they could be about to invade restaurants now as flying waiters. A company in Singapore are releasing their latest drone as an aid to the hospitality industry. They say that a huge shortage of skilled waiting staff there make this a logical move. A team of drones will carry the food to tables, land it, and remove humans from the equation.

We’ve seen Yo! Sushi do this in the past as a publicity stunt but this is the first time we’ve seen a company doing it professionally. On the plus side, it could make kitchens more efficient and cut down costs, but on the downside it removes all social interaction, and the noise of them flying overhead would be pretty off putting. Maybe they’d work in a novelty restaurant to keep kids entertained, but I’m not sure about them in the long run. Whatever we think though these are hitting the market later in the year, and possibly coming to a restaurant near you soon. Lets just hope the batteries don’t run out when one is above you with a full bowl of soup.
