Yesterday saw the last day of the Finglas Festival and the setting of the world record for the largest lookalike competition of the Irish TV character Mrs Brown.
While approximately 100 fans of the Dublin mammy showed up in costume to participate in the contest, only 65 of them managed to meet the strict dress code to qualify.
While Mrs Brown creator Brendan O’Carroll was not present for the event, he expressed his delight on Twitter that it was taking place.
@finglasfestival – I sooooo wish I could be there but I’m in America. Good luck to all the Mrs. Browns. I’m chuffed that it’s in Finglas ????

The winner of the lookalike competition was 32 year old, Sean McMahon. A large man of over six feet tall and more than 17 stone, Sean said he was “bet into the clothes.”
My fiancee, Teresa, encouraged me to enter at the last minute. It was great craic.
