Three members of an Irish family have received suspended sentences after causing €2,500 worth of damages to The Killarney Hotel at a Confirmation celebration.
The Mallow family – Patrick Dinan (40) and his wife Mary Dinan (42), and his sister, Mary Ann Dinan (22) – all pleaded guilty to violent disorder at the (then named) Quality Hotel in Killarney on May 19, 2013.
After starting a sing-song in the hotel bar, an argument broke out between the Dinan family and a group at a nearby table that were celebrating a christening. The argument escalated into a brawl that involved the throwing of bottles and chairs at random.
The Dinan women had to be pepper sprayed in front of their children in order to restrain them.
Each of the three family members were given two and a half year sentences by Judge Thomas E. O’Donnell in Tralee Circuit Criminal Court , but these were suspended for four years.
