These 5 Pubs Will Be Absolutely Hopping After The Dublin Match Today

James Fenton

Dublin and Monaghan face off in the All-Ireland football quarter-final at Croke Park today and the city is on tenterhooks.

If The Dubs maintain any of the kind of form they’ve shown in recent years they should have enough to beat The Oriel County and that’s when the real party can get started.

There’s no craic like GAA days in the capital so we’ve chosen five pubs in the Croke Park area that will be lit during and after the big game which starts at 6pm.

If you haven’t got a ticket for the match get down to one of these spots early and if you do join in the fun afterwards.

That’s before you head on to Coppers of course.

1. Big Tree

The craic out the back is unreal on matchdays while inside the tunes get going early in the day.

2. McGowans

Phibsboro’s most famous establishment. They stay open late so a great way to kick off the Bank Holiday.

3. Quinns

A staple of Drumcondra Road for generations and one of the Northside’s favourite matchday haunts.

4. Phil Ryan’s Hogan Stand

Named after the famous stand at Croke Park, it’s only down the road from GAA HQ. No better place for post-match analysis over a few pints.

5. Croke Park Hotel

If the Hogan Stand is close, the Croke Park Hotel is literally a stone’s throw away. Watch the match here if you haven’t got a ticket and grab a seat before it packs up afterwards.
