PICS: Dublin Fire Brigade Has A Message For Students Who Are Burning Their Schoolbooks

James Fenton

Most people will never forget the giddy excitement of their last day at secondary school. With the Leaving Cert now just a memory, uniforms and homework could be replaced by relentless college assignments and weekly (okay daily) nights out at the students union bar.

However, there’s always some eejits who have to take the celebrations too far. With the Leaving Cert now in its final stages, Dublin Fire Brigade has a message for those who do cross the line by setting their school books on fire in public places.

A post on Twitter reads:

‘Some students see burning their books as a tradition when they finish school. It’s a bit silly, you could just pass them on… Setting fires like this, especially in dry weather, could lead to larger grass/bush fires. Not smart. PS. You left your name on the inside cover.’

Lets hope the culprit is more careful when they go out into the big bad world. For all our sakes.
