Dublin Will Play Meath In A Fundraiser For Injured Liverpool Fan Sean Cox Next Month

James Fenton

Dublin GAA has confirmed that its senior football team will play a charity match against Meath next month to raise funds for Sean Cox, who was seriously injured before Liverpool’s Champions League match against Roma in April.

Mr. Cox is heavily involved the running of St. Peter’s GAA in Dunboyne and his son Jack was part of the team that won the Meath Senior Football Championship last month. Speaking on The Late Late Show recently, Sean’s wife Martina gave an update on her husband’s progress, saying: “He has a limited amount of words, very small amount, he can’t sit up. He can’t walk, so it’s pretty horrendous really still, but he is making progress and it is small steps, so we take every step as a positive because that is what we do when we are in this situation.”

The match between the two Leinster rivals will take place on Sunday December 16 with a provisional throw-in time of 1.30pm. More information can be found here.
