This Mural Inspired By The Women Of 1916 Is Now On George’s Street

George’s Street has just gotten a wonderful new piece of artwork this morning to mark International Women’s Day and usher in the Easter Rising celebrations.

Created by Irish artist Gearoid O’Dea, the artwork is inspired by the women of 1916 and is located where Joe Caslin’s marriage equality piece was installed last year.

Entitled ‘Le Che?ile I Ngruaig’, meaning ‘Together In The Hair’, the piece features three women who each played an important role in the Rising: Countess Markievicz (left), Margaret Pearse (right) and Grace Gifford-Plunkett (bottom).
