Plans to demolish historic Apollo House on Tara Street, given the green light several months ago by An Bord Pleanála, are set to kick off this week as part of a €50 million redevelopment for a ‘mid-town’ in Dublin city centre.
The building will be replaced by a brand new plaza.
It will be bulldozed, along with neighbouring building Hawkins House, to create a ten-story office quarter complete with shops, restaurants, and a public plaza.
The planning authority envisages it as being a “mid-town” area of Dublin similar to that of the office district in New York.
It is understood that tenants operating a car-park facility on the site have been notified to vacate the property by Thursday, the Sunday Independent reports.
