We are well and truly into the swing of the festive season, with only a few days to go before we are forced to return to normality.
Rather than focusing on the 12 Pubs or big party nights out, we wanted to pick the 10 best places to get a drink in Dublin that will put a smile on your face over the Christmas.
These are the sort of places you'll pop in laden down with shopping bags for one or two in the company of a good friend....
10th. The Stag's Head
Not far from all the main shopping streets but still far enough away that you can escape all the madness, get a pint and still pop into town to get a few bits afterwards.
9th. Gibney's, Malahide
They make a huge effort to get into the festive spirit in here and it is a magnet for people looking to let their hair down over the holidays.
8th. Clemont And Pekoe
Nothing tastes as good as a nice warm drink if you're still trying to nab a few bargains in the sales. Pop in for one of the very best hot chocolates in Dublin.
7th. Gravediggers
A pub that is crucial to all those who live in the local area and a frontrunner for most festive pub in Dublin.
6th. The Long Hall
One of the very best pubs in Dublin and the atmosphere only increases during the festive season. If you are super lucky, you'll get one of the window seats to watch the world go by.
5th. The Goat
The place is packed all year around but it really comes to life during the Christmas period. Catch up on sports games, eat big plates of turkey (still not sick of it?) and enjoy that festive feeling.
4th. Grogan's
The pints and the toasties are absolutely world class but if you ask us, it is all about the people watching here. Watch the shoppers mixing with the drunken people out on the sesh.
3rd. The Palace Bar
While the rest of Temple Bar is more focused on volume of punters and huge nights out, the Palace is everything we love about the festive season in Dublin.
2nd. The Shelbourne Bar
The huge tree, the big happy faces, the classy service and the amazing buzz all contribute in terms of making this one of the very best places in Dublin for a Christmas drink.
1st. The Gingerman
The one place in the city that goes absolutely 100% over the top in terms of making the place feel super festive and we absolutely love it.

We’re in the final countdown. Yes, we have speculated whether this 20 year old trend is slowly dying, perhaps evident by the fact there aren’t more cafés whipping up pumpkin spice and everything nice on this list, but basic as it may be, it’s a celebration of autumn in my eyes, and I can’t help but […]

Dublin is glutted with literary magazines. They’re ten a penny; if today’s penny is actually €15 each. Ireland, with its rich history of independent literary magazines, finds itself in rude health today with many new […]

(and Always) It’s never been more vital to support Queer-Owned Spaces in Dublin. Put your money where your morals are as often as you can. As someone who has worked in hospitality, I know that the people who run our bars, restaurants, and cafés shape the atmosphere more than the decor or the playlist ever […]
