‘Operation Surround’ is a Garda initiative involving a series of high visibility MAT (Mandatory Alcohol Testing) checkpoints carried out simultaneously at key locations.
And last night North County Dublin, Balbriggan in particular, was the target for Gardaí:

And while the majority of people passed the breathalyser tests…

Not all did.
Gardaí ended up arresting one driver for drink driving, and due to an existing warrant, the driver was brought to prison.

A total of 259 drivers were tested and five cars were seized for driving without insurance.
