This Is Without A Doubt The Best Park In Dublin On A Sunny Day

What I love most about my job is that I get to find all the new places in the city.

There isn’t a day that goes by when I’m not blown away by hidden corners of Dublin, or nooks and crannies that – somehow – I’ve been missing for all these years.

With the sun out I was introduced to a park that is so stunningly beautiful you feel like you’re walking through a fairytale; like, they should shoot movies here.

Ardgillan Castle and Demesne truly is Ireland’s hidden gem, set in spectacular parklands overlooking the Irish Sea with a magnificent view of the Mourne Mountains. As well as the castle, the grounds feature a walled rose garden.

It’s about a 30-minute drive from Dublin city centre located just between the picturesque villages of Skerries and Balbriggan. Some of the things that make this place so special include…

With stunning views of the sea, a top-notch playground to keep the kids entertained and more benches and picnic areas than you could ever need, there are even specific spots where you’re encouraged to barbecue.

But the true jewel in the crown is the big house itself – a gorgeous castle with walled garden that you can tour for free, and explore the gorgeous old-style tea room.

This is a place that is well worth making the trip to spend the day here. There’s something for everybody and the place is so well thought out that I wish it was better known – but then again one of the beauties is that you often have the place to yourself.

Easily the best park in Dublin in my opinion – and that takes some doing, given our standards.
