PICS: Smithfield Has A Brand Spankin’ New Gourmet Sandwich And Coffee Shop

Sarah

Never have we been more envious of the residents of Smithfield. Not only do they have amazing coffee (Proper Order is the biz), the secret gem that is Betty Bojangles vintage store and the Lighthouse Cinema, there’s now Oxmantown.

An independent sandwich and coffee shop that opened its first location in Stoneybatter in 2013, Oxmantown serves up tantalising grilled sambos, flatbreads, salads, sweet treats and home baked goods.

Oh, there’s also daily specials like Italian meatloaf on ciabatta or crackling porchetta.

Basically, they put all other sandwiches to shame. Think that’s too bold a claim? Try the Ruby just once (pastrami, sauerkraut, pickles, Swiss cheese and horseradish on rye sourdough) or their Ham + Cheese (ham hock, grilled Gruyere, béchamel, roast tomatoes and pickles on sourdough) and you’ll never eat a sad supermarket sandwich again.

Oxmantown has recently opened a second spot just off Smithfield Square…

Pared back interiors make Oxmantown all about the food, with coffee from Dublin city roasters Cloud Picker

That’s it. We can’t resist any longer – we’re hopping straight onto the Luas for some grub…
