A free app has just been launched to help reduce the amount of sugar in people’s diets.
The app is was created as part of the Change4Life campaign by Public Health England in response to recent revelations that children aged four to ten years old are consuming 22kg of added sugar per year.
It’s hoped that the Sugar Smart app will help curb this excessive intake by giving the user a visual understanding of just how much sugar is being added to processed goods.
The app is simple to use, allowing you to scan the barcodes of products to see how many 4-gram sugar cubes went into them when they were being made.
