Ali is here and as you’ll know if you tried to walk into work or even have a peaceful sleep last night, it means business.
Met Éireann is expecting winds of up to 130km/h on Wednesday as Ali causes destruction to over half of Ireland.
There has been a whole host of road blockages throughout Ireland because of fallen trees that have surrendered under the Storm’s heavy influence.
And in Dublin alone, there is currently six road blockages courtesy of fallen trees which is really impacting on Dublin traffic.
There are:
- Fallen tree partially blocking the junction of Finglas Rd and Ballyboggan Rd.
- Fallen tree on Boherboy Rd in Saggart partially blocking traffic headed towards the N81.
- Fallen tree on the Swords Rd at Santry Ave.
- There is a fallen tree at the Straawberry Beds at the bridge after Chadwicks.
- Reports of a fallen tree in Sandyford Village at Sandyford House.
- Updated: A fallen tree has been cleared from Kevin St Upr in the city centre.
As well as this AA Roadwatch is reporting severe road blockages in Mayo, Galway, Sligo, Cork and Kerry.
They say that:
“Extreme care is needed on all roads this morning. Only travel if absolutely necessary.
“Met Éireann has issued wind warnings during Storm Ali. A Status Yellow Wind Warning is in place until 5pm for the whole country, with a Status Orange Wind Warning in operation until 1pm for Connacht, Donegal, Monaghan, Cavan, Louth, Meath, Westmeath, Dublin, Kildare, Offaly, Longford, Clare and Kerry.
“So far it’s wet and windy in many parts but it’s very wet with strong winds in parts of counties Galway, Mayo and Sligo. Extreme care is needed on all roads this morning.
“Winds are forecast to be strongest along Atlantic Coasts at first before extending further east later in the morning. High-sided vehicles are especially vulnerable on open or exposed roads. Be particularly mindful of pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. Wind-blown debris is likely to be a problem on secondary roads in particular.”
