Ah, Valentine’s Day.
The two most frightening words in the English language.
Buuuut, they don’t have to be. While the day is definitely synonymous with couples, relationships and a flying nappy-clad human, the day is also a great excuse to treat yo’ single self to some self indulgence.
We wrote up a list of some of the best ways to do this in the capital, and we sincerely hope you all get involved.
After all, it’s the best day of the year to do whatever the f*ck you want.
1. Eat a pint of ice-cream at Gino’s
There’s two on Grafton Street alone.
The fact you’ve avoided them both on most occasions means you deserve at least a pint.
2. Go to a pound fitness class
The latest trendy fitness class to hit our shores. It’s fun, it’s hectic, and it makes you feel whopper after.
We tried them out ourselves, and here’s what happened.
3. Take the Dublin Ghost Bus Tour
Because, gas.
4. Use Borrow My Doggy
The puppy service that let’s you walk dogs and basically live your best life.
5. Treat yo’ self to a beauty treatment
Hey, your next love could be just around the corner, may as well make yourself look like a ride for the time being, just incase.
We recommend Elysian Brows on South William Street. They do everything, and they do it pretty bloody well.
6. Go to a psychic and see if you’re going to be single forever
Hey, worth a shot.
7. Find out where in Dublin ACTUALLY does the best Guinness
By drinking a pint in all of them.
Someone’s gotta go it.
8. Head to this chipper and find your one true love
And hey, if you don’t find love – you’ll definitely find chips.

Because you should love yourself and buy loads of new things.
10. Go to a trad sesh and relive your Gaeltacht days
Céilí love is real love.
We recommend The Cobblestone.
11. Head to Whelan’s for some rockin’ out
Black Pope, a rock’n’roll outfit with a taste for all things dark and mysterious, will be gracing Whelan’s with their presence this Tuesday night.
What better way to get over this made up holiday than getting stuck into a deadly gig?
There’s also a silent disco and late bar on afterwards.
12. Laugh then cry then laugh at a comedy gig
Take your pic of any of the following:
- The Comedy Cellar Showcase Show at the International Bar
- The Comedy Crunch at The Stag’s Head
- Or Battle Of The Axe at the Ha’penny Bridge Inn
13. Bathe in truffle pasta at I Monelli
And sit by the window so you can see the swans.
Bread and pasta and more bread. What’s not to love?
14. Try out a boxing class
Because who doesn’t want to box the head off someone on the most romantic day of the year?
We tried out Underdog Boxing on Cuffe Street and loved it.
15. Do a soup run
Everyone needs some extra love on February 14. Especially those without a home.
The Dublin Simon Community is always looking for extra help, and now’s your chance to get involved.
16. Find your new favourite tipple at Drop Dead Twice
Dublin’s coolest new cocktail bar – this place will make up any cocktail you desire, for a fraction of the price.
17. Eat infinate sushi rolls at Musashi
The best sushi joint in town, and that’s saying something.
See how many you can fit in your mouth this Valentine’s Day, and make it one to remember.
18. Go shout at Keywest busking on Grafton Street
They’ll 100% be there.
We just know.
19. And finally, get a drag show in at Pantibar
The staff are rides, the shows are gas and the drinks are cheap.
You genuinely couldn’t do any better.
