The Irish Air Corps do great work on behalf of the country and the latest set of images they have shared on their Facebook page capture Dublin in a way that you just couldn’t imagine from the ground. We previously shared 8 gorgeous images they had posted but the air corps were up in the sky again this bank holiday weekend in a mixture of sun and rain. Here are 8 of the best shots they shared..
Phoenix Park
We’ve all probably driven past the point that marks the Pope’s visit to these shores in 1979 hundreds of times but this is the first time I’ve seen it properly from the air.
Bustling Port
We often forget just how much goes on down in Dublin port and what an important part it plays in out city but this image gives you a good overview of all the goods being shipped in and out on any given day.
Dun Laoghaire Pier
Most people spent their weekend walking along the pier eating an ice cream without a care in the world. What this picture shows is the huge job it does protecting those tiny little yachts from the wild sea on the other side.
Poolbeg Lighthouse
Originally operated on candlepower this iconic Dublin symbol is located on the Great South Wall, at the Port of Dublin, which extends from Ringsend nearly four miles out into Dublin Bay.
Tide Is Out
For anybody who has ever had a walk on Sandymount Strand and wondered just how far they’d be able to walk when the tide is out this picture will give you a good idea. Remarkable.
City Of Bridges
The Liffey really does cut it’s way through the city and it is only from the air that you appreciate just how important all the bridges are for people crossing it. Notice the newest bridge of the lot featuring as well.
3 Iconic Fixtures
You can see from this picture just how close Shelbourne Park, The Aviva and The Gassoworks are to each other and what an iconic part of the city this is fast becoming.
Save The Best For Last
If you were to leave Dublin and cross the world you could close your eyes and this is the one image that would come back to us all immediately. Absolutely iconic image of our wonderful little city.
