Darragh Berry

If you have this name, we’re sorry for the amount of times that it has been either pronounced wrong or misspelt.

But, WHO’S LAUGHING NOW? Because you, Fionnghuala, have the chance to get yourself some free drink.

Before we tell you how though, let’s give you some history about that beautiful name. It derives from Irish mythology where Fionnghuala was the daughter of Lir, and was cursed in the Irish tale ‘Children of Lir’.

Sometimes, the name is shortened to just ‘Nuala’ but no Nualas need apply here, everyone can say your name without any difficulty.

Doyle’s Corner in Phibsboro is kicking off their weekly “we want you” promotion and are starting with “the long suffering Fionnghualas” who have their name turned into everything but what it sounds like.

“All you have to do is tag a Fionnghuala you know for them to simply prove at the bar that they are a Fionnghuala to receive a complimentary Bombay and Tonic any time this Friday, 22 June.

Happy days. Round up the Fionnghualas because we’ll tell you much, we don’t know any.
