Here’s Why Getting A Taxi Will Be Extremely Difficult Tomorrow

Taxi drivers are “very likely” to stay home during the Garda strike tomorrow, according to the head of the taxi drivers’ union.

Christy Humphrey, General Secretary of the National Private Hire and Taxi Association, said that taxi drivers are worried about an increase in dangerous driving and criminal behaviour without the presence of Gardaí.

Speaking to Independent.ie, Humphrey revealed the worries that members of his union had revealed,

From what we’re hearing, a large number of drivers will stay home […] Take the bus and taxi corridor on Westmoreland Street near the Central Bank. It’s bad enough as it is, but if that becomes a free-for-all we’re in big trouble.
