The Best Pre-Christmas Nights Out

fiodhna_hm

With an insane amount of events happening around Dublin in the run up to Christmas, here are a few of our favourite picks for the coming days.

Tensnake at The Twisted Pepper

Kick off your Christmas weekend in style this Friday, with a stomper of an evening at the Twisted Pepper. Last time this German DJ & producer graced Dublin with his presence it was a sell out show, with bouncers practically dragging him off stage as he attempted to play a fourth encore to a very sweaty crowd. This looks to be no different, with Tensnake having released his debut album in the past few months, so he’ll be armed with plenty of new material to get the crowd going. In the basement, Pick ‘N’ Mix will be doing their thang with resident DJs, and free sweeties if you’re lucky.

The Fourth Annual Spies Seasonal Soiree

If you’re looking for some quality up and coming Irish talent on Saturday, this is your gig. Spies are a five piece Dublin rock outfit destined for great things. They host their fourth annual ‘Seasonal Soiree’ in the Grand Social this Saturday night. Special guests on the night are Tandem Felix and Paddy Hanna, two other unreal Dublin-based acts. This will be a night of great live music, and a whole lot of silliness. Doors are from 8pm, and any early comers will be rewarded with mulled wine and mince pies served by Santa himself.

Happy Valley

Hot on the heels of their first release from Cloud Castle Lake, Happy Valley Records host their first late night shindig in Dublin this Saturday night. It’ll be taking place in the basement of Pacino’s, which is rapidly becoming one of my favourite spots for a boogie in the city. It’ll be a nicely intimate affair with a slick line up, including some long lost Dubliners returning from London to spin only the nicest house, boogie and soul all night long.

Happy-Valley

The Emigrant Disco

This is a slick little event for Ireland’s indigenous party people to meet up with their emigrant friends returning home for Christmas. The Emigrant Disco is a night for pals returning from far and wide, and some musicians too – with DIMMAN coming back from Sweden, and Jon Averill from London. There’ll also be some great Irish talent who never left the Emerald Isle performing on the night too, so expect the likes of White Collar Boy, Joma, Louis Scully, Shocko and more.

The-Sugar-Club

Aeroplane at Pyg Sundays

If you’re going to hit it far too hard this weekend then there is only one remedy to this? Sunday funday. Pygmalion has 40% off drinks, delicious tapas and a guest DJ, Aeroplane whose uplifting Italo Disco tunes will give you a new lease of life. When are you going to realise that you’re going to be consistently hungover until NYE? Acceptance is the first step, this event is the second.

Pyg

Block T Midnight Market

Just like your average kind of flea market, except on a Tuesday evening with lots of extra fun additions. Block T will be open from 7pm until late, for all your last minute shopping needs. There will be plenty of vendors with crafts, clothes, jewellery, artwork and plenty more bric-a-brac in between. In terms of empty stomachs coming straight from work, Mexican food will be available as well as mulled wine, s’mores and chocolate soup. (SOLD!) Then as an added bonus there will be DJs playing til late, and a ‘Bad Santa’ grotto for any shoppers who misbehave. Happy days.
