The Dublin Society For Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has warned that this puppy’s ‘DIY’ tail amputation is sadly not an isolated case.

They said that two men were seen acting suspiciously at a housing estate in Clondalkin at 2:30pm on Wednesday.

Local people in the area heard a loud screeching noise which was the horrendous attack on the puppy who was having its tail cut with a very sharp blade.

The puppy was abandoned and the men left the scene in a car.

The puppy, named ‘Pickle’, was brought to the vet and was then collected by the DSPCA.

The 12-week-old terrier cross had a deep incision half way down its tail and had to have her tail amputated as a result of the attack.

DSPCA’s Gillian Bird believes the injuries sustained by the puppy were caused by a sharp blade like a stanley knife and Bird along with the DSPCA are calling on anyone who may have witnessed something to come forward and email them or to contact their local Garda Station.
