Bacon brings more happiness than popping fresh bubble wrap, flipping to the cool side of the pillow or slapping on a pair of new socks combined.
Bacon makes us think there just might be a god after all.
Bacon is bacon.
We’ve searched high and low from casual cafes to high end restaurants in order to make sure that we brought you the very best bacon dishes that Dublin has to offer...
These guys are anything but conventional.. Despite being better known for their steaks, they have an incredible selection of classic cocktails that they’ve put their own signature spin on.
Their Old Fashioned is freshly made with real oak smoke, Woodford Reserve bourbon, maple syrup, housemade pecan bitters, orange zest and candied bacon.
Candied bacon is one of the most important breakthroughs of our time, it is made by coating the meat with a sugar and spice mixture and baking it until crispy. It manages to be chewy, crunchy, sweet and salty all at the same time!
The roast pear, bacon and Mount Callan cheddar sandwich is hands-down their most popular dish. The fluffy white bread is baked on-site and a fabulous mustard mayo dressing makes for a perfect combination of flavours!
The cafe itself is beautifully decorated and the balcony makes for the perfect place to people watch as shoppers mill around below.
This place is best known for their sublime seafood but their cafe boasts a stellar brunch menu.
Their fry up follows the standard format but they manage to transform the beloved greasy fry up into a gourmet breakfast dish. You get the full traditional spread as well as yummy chips from their up-market chipper.
They may be known as King of the Wings but they also make a mean Bacon Cheeseburger with an extremely generous serving of molten cheese and crispy bacon. We suggest going for a side of their beer battered onion rings as well - you can thank us later!
I know a visit to Herbstreet is more than likely going to involve queuing outside for a table, yet I do it anyways. I’ve never been kept waiting for long and to be honest, their brunch menu is of the standard that they could leave me out in the cold and I’d still be saying ‘Shut up and take my money!’.
Their French toast is a knockout - thick-cut, fluffy bread topped with rum buttered bananas, grilled bacon and maple syrup.
One of the very few restaurants striving to produce good Irish good and actually succeeding.
Although the potato pancake is their speciality, you can’t pay a visit here without giving their tender bacon ribs a try. The ribs are coated in a tasty cider & raisin glaze, BBQ sauce and buttermilk slaw. Finger lickin’ good!
These guys are slaying the competition when it comes to sandwiches. Their bread is fluffy and light but with a crisp crust to hold the sandwich together and add that perfect crunch.
Their breakfast butty is the hangover cure that you need in your life - smoked streaky bacon, sausage, swiss cheese and dill pickles with their house smoked ketchup on an onion bap. A work of art!
This is not for the fainthearted, sorry - die hard bacon fans only beyond this point.
The newest and most outrageous addition to the Aussie BBQ menu: twice cooked fries in duck fat covered in grated cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, pulled pork and baconnaise. You had us at baconnaise!
Last but not least is this masterpiece - a bacon wrapped and bacon stuffed burger. This beast comes with bacon jam and bacon aioli as well as melted cheese and all the usual toppings.
Whilst not currently a permanent fixture on the menu, with enough outcry we may be able to change that! If you like you can also order their amazing bacon parmesan fries alongside the main event. Bacon-ception.
