Road users in the city centre are well used to seeing cyclists making a cheeky dash past a red light when they think no one is looking.
The behaviour can often result in injuries to both the cyclists themselves and the general public and with that in mind the Gardaí have stepped in today to remind them that rules for traffic lights are the same everybody, no matter their mode of transport.
Posting a picture on Twitter of a cyclist getting fined for breaking a traffic light, An Garda Síochána said:
“Cyclist fined for breaking red light at Westmoreland St, Dublin. Traffic Lights apply to everyone.”
