Any self-respecting chicken fillet connoisseur will tell you that the greatest chicken fillet roll in Dublin can be found in Maguires at the bottom of Grafton Street.
At Maguire’s deli counter there’s no such thing as limp lettuce, or only giving you half a chicken fillet in some attempt to cut costs, nor do they have the audacity to charge extra for a key component of the humble chicken fillet roll: cheese.
They really don’t mess about in Maguires, and they have been churning out hundreds of thousands of chicken fillet rolls since they first opened back in November 2010 – much to the delight of college students, hungover souls, and people in need of a quick, filling lunch.

However, yesterday we got wind of some terrible news…
To all our loyal customers over the years, we’d like to take this opportunity to thank you so much for your business, it really is very much appreciated. You have kept us busy through one of the worst recessions the country has ever seen!
In the new year, Maguires will undergo a big transformation…..we are turning the business into a Healthy Food Store franchise called “Chopped”. Check out www.chopped.ie to get a flavour….pun intended! Haha
We are very excited about our next chapter for the business and hope you are tooMaguires Facebook page
Another healthy salad bar?! Sure, chicken fillies aren’t winning any nutrition awards but they’re a fucking institution at this point, and Maguires was home to the best in Dublin… Is nothing sacred?
There has been an outpouring of grief from diehard Maguires fans on social media since yesterday’s announcement.

Heard that chopped Chopped is taking over Maguires on Grafton street… The vegan agenda, I’m telling you. #Evil

To those struggling to come to terms with this heartbreaking news, you may find some solace in in attending The One Last Chicken Fillet Roll Vigil before Maguires closes its doors on January 18.

As a parting thought, consider Homer Simpson’s wise words, which have never been more relevant than at this trying time..
