Two Men Arrested Following Major Armed Garda Car Chase In Dublin

Alana Laverty

Two men have been arrested following armed robberies and a carjacking in Dublin yesterday.

It is believed the men, armed with a crowbar and screwdriver, entered a service station in Palmerstown and threatened staff before making away with some cash.

They moved on to a shop in Killinarden, Tallaght where they once again threatened staff, while armed with a hammer and an alleged garden shears.

They left empty-handed from their second raid.

Later on a car, believed to be the car they used during the raids, was found burnt out in Shankhill.

Then, at approximately 4pm, a female driver was carjacked by the two men near Old Connaught Drive.

No one was injured during any of the three incidents.

Gardaí identified the carjacked vehicle a while later driving recklessly in the Rathfarnham area. The men lost control of the vehicle, fled on foot, were pursued and apprehended by Gardaí.

The Armed Support Unit and Air Support assisted.
