Dún Laoghaire Residents Being Forced To Leave Homes And Face Rent Hike On Return

katedemolder

The residents of 17 Dún Laoghaire apartments have been ordered to vacate the premises in order to accommodate works, with fears that prices are set to go up following their return.

According to 98fm, it’s believed that two vulture funds attempted to raise rents last December, just two days prior to the 4% cap on increases came into force – leaving tenants suspicious to refurbish.

Residents of St Helen’s Court have been informed they’ll then have the chance to re-rent the apartments when works finish – however, they will subject to certain conditions.

Legally, landlords do have the capacity to raise rents beyond the 4% increase limit if extensive refurbishments are made to a property.
