Gardaí foiled an armed robbery in progress in a shop in Finglas earlier today.

They had been alerted to the robbery this morning at the shop in Hampton Wood.

When they arrived they had to force their way into the shop. They found the thief wearing a balaclava and armed with a crowbar, according to the Journal.

They managed to arrest the man after a struggle, and he is currently being detained in Finglas Garda Station.

They found the two shop workers, a man and a woman, locked in a room, unharmed.
