PICS: Have You Seen These Mysterious Shadows In Dublin Today?

Alana Laverty

Did you see these mysterious standing silhouettes around Dublin today?

They’re all part of the #OutoftheShadows exhibit which toured the country before finishing up in Dublin today.

The travelling art project by artist and activist Will St Leger aims to represent and raise awareness for the women who leave Ireland every single day to access abortions.

This campaign is supported by the Abortion Rights Campaign and Amnesty International Ireland

The silhouettes were placed on Rosie Hackett Bridge today after visiting Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim and Meath over the last six days.

People joined in in solidarity:

#OutoftheShadows around Ireland:

The exhibition in Dublin coincided with today’s Citizen’s Assembly.

“This exhibition is an important way of highlighting the reality of what Irish law forces women to go through to get health services that should be their right at home. Art and activism have always gone hand in hand. Artistic action engages the community and helps people connect to social issues in innovative ways and social media lets us reach a global audience instantly. The ways we can communicate around this issue are endless, yet the urgent message remains the same: we must Repeal the 8th without delay.”
