We ran an article this week concerning Screen One at the Savoy on O’Connell Street, and the possibility of it being changed, removed or updated – taking away the setting of some of our best childhood memories.
However, IMC Cinemas, the group which owns the Savoy Cinema, have heard our cries, and have responded to rumours about the building.
In statement posted online today, IMC tweeted a response stating that while a change is being discussed, the screen will remain untouched.

The response mentions clearly:
“In relation to the rumours swirling regarding Savoy One, the directors are considering this change at present; however no final decision has been made. The screen size of Savoy One would not be affected by the change.”
Phew.
Thankfully this iconic Dublin childhood memory will be staying put for the next while!
