A lovely little video has been shared on Facebook by the Dublin Port Company that has given people across the city an insight into what it was like growing up in a true Dublin community.
Local characters from charming Ringsend have shared their fond memories of growing up near Dublin Port, and with over 55k views, it’s really resonating with both young and old.
People are also commenting online that they have shared the footage with family members who grew up there; “these videos remind her of so many people and memories of growing up”, one Facebook user wrote.

Locals talk about their memories of being called “ray eaters” by nearby neighbours in Pearse Street, and reminisce on the booming fishing trade.
From swimming in the Grand Canal Basin, rowing back and forth in The Liffey, their memories of the area are incredible
Age-old traditions such as carrying the corpse of a local over the bridge into Ringsend live on today
