PIC: This Dublin Renting Scam Will Easily Take Nearly €2k From Your Pocket

Darragh Berry

No matter how desperate you are to get a place to live in the capital at this moment in time, if something is too good to be true, it probably is.

If something is cheap, be cautious. If the person with the room is looking for a quick sale, be cautious.

And if the person asks you to send any amount of money to them without meeting them or seeing the room first, alarm sounds should be belling out all over that brain of yours.

One Reddit User got this text message while he was searching for somewhere to stay and just knew that something was up.

And apparently, according to the Reddit User, this is not Dario Bretan’s first rodeo and these text messages are being sent to people all around the country looking for accomodation.

  • Where are you working?
  • How many people in total will be living in the Apt?
  • Can you please tell me something about you and the other potential tenants please?
  • Do all of you have previous landlord and current work references?
  • Would all of you have proof of finances?
  • Do any of you smoke?
  • Do any of you have any pets or plan to have pets in the Apt?
