No matter how desperate you are to get a place to live in the capital at this moment in time, if something is too good to be true, it probably is.

If something is cheap, be cautious. If the person with the room is looking for a quick sale, be cautious.

And if the person asks you to send any amount of money to them without meeting them or seeing the room first, alarm sounds should be belling out all over that brain of yours.

One Reddit User got this text message while he was searching for somewhere to stay and just knew that something was up.

And apparently, according to the Reddit User, this is not Dario Bretan's first rodeo and these text messages are being sent to people all around the country looking for accomodation.

Rent Dublin Scam

The full text reads:

"Hello, Thank you for your interest to rent my apartment.

I worked in Ireland in the last 5 years and bought this apartment during my staying in Ireland. I'm renting the place for unlimited time but right now the flat is inhabited and will be available from 07 May Before we go any further I would like to know this details:

  • What is your full name?
  • Where are you working?
  • How many people in total will be living in the Apt?
  • Can you please tell me something about you and the other potential tenants please?
  • Do all of you have previous landlord and current work references?
  • Would all of you have proof of finances?
  • Do any of you smoke?
  • Do any of you have any pets or plan to have pets in the Apt?
  • How long do you plan to stay? And when do you plan on moving in?

The flat is exactly like in the pictures, fully furnished and renovated. Also, very important, the utilities (cold/hot water, electricity,  wireless broadband Internet, digital TV, 2 spaces for parking spots, dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, refrigerator, washing machine, etc.) are INCLUDED in the price of 800 Euro/month for entire Apartment. "security deposit" is also 800 Euro. And you get it back, when you decide to leave from the apartment. You can use my furniture, or you can also use your own if you prefer.

If you decide to use yours, you will have access to a very large and well ventilated storeroom, where you can put my furniture. Now, a little bit about myself so we can get to know each other better. My name is Dario Bretan, I was born in Switzerland I am Deputy General Manager at www.aerlingus.com. The only inconvenience is that my job doesn't allow me to leave of Switzerland where I am now even for one single day. We just hired some new staff and I'm in charge of their training. But this won't affect you at all. I can make arrangements to rent you the apartment from here. If you are still interested to rent my place i will explain you how we will do this after I get more information's about you.

Looking forward to hear from you soon.

Thank You!

Dario Bretan Deputy General Manager www.aerlingus.com"

If you get this message, report the house or room that you were looking immediately and do not reply.
