A Luas Tram Is Being Filled With Gifts For The Homeless Every Day For A Week This Christmas

Kiara Keane

The annual #FillALuas Christmas Shoebox Appeal is going to be bigger than ever this year as it’ll be running for an entire week this time around.

Inner City Helping Homeless and Transdev will be coming together for their fourth year to organise the gift drive that will provide rough sleepers in the city with much-needed essentials such as toiletries and clothing.

Thanks to its huge success in previous years, it’s now being extended so people will have an entire week to donate to the cause.

From Thursday, December 6, an empty Luas will be at Connolly station where people can leave their donations between 7am and 7pm each day for a week.

If you can’t make it to Connolly, you can also leave your shoebox at one of the Luas depots in Broombridge and Red Cow from 9am to 5pm on the same days.

If you’d like to donate, they’re looking for shoeboxes to be filled with things like socks, underwear, hats, scarves, gloves, wrapped sweets, chocolates and toiletries.

People are being asked not to include perishable food, aerosols, perfumes, aftershave, mouth wash or hand sanitiser.

Get those dates in your diaries now and be sure to get involved with this fantastic cause.
