Prisoner Talked Down From Mountjoy Rooftop

A prisoner was talked down from the rooftop of Mounjoy Prison yesterday. 

It is believed the prisoner gained access to the roof at around 3pm, causing the prison to go on lockdown. 

Negotiators worked with the prison to talk the man down safely, a prison service spokesman has said. 

Less than 600 men are currently detained in Mountjoy. During the lockdown only staff were permitted to enter the prison.
