Got no plans for the weekend but in the mood for a bit of a boogie? We’ve picked some of the best live gigs, DJ sets and nights out happening around town tonight and tomorrow night so that you can take your pick….
Two lads, a bunch of equipment, the odd bass guitar and a whole lot of tunes. Expect to hear hip hop, funk, soul as well as house and techno. These guys are insanely passionate about their music and it really shines through in their sets so the crowd at Opium Rooms tonight are in for a treat.
Kate Stables is the talented and utterly charming frontwoman behind This Is The Kit, who bring their show to The Workman’s Club tonight. But don’t be put off by the demure and folksy image she portrays – this is far from strummy, acoustic meandering, and Stables really knows how to pack a melodic punch.
These guys are responsible for the wonderful slice of pop ‘Rather Be’ which danced around in our heads for the past twelve months. The also have a pretty impressive debut album filled with pop hits, so this will be a fun filled with bubbly pop and plenty of dancing at the Academy.
The living dance music legend that is Graeme Clark, also known as The Revenge will be playing in Opium Rooms on Saturday. His remixes, productions and edits have all been played out by every respected DJ globally, securing him as one of the top names in electronic music today. This gig is a must for any fans of house or disco!
The Answer may hail from Northern Ireland, but their sound is very much rooted in the American South. These guys know how to rock out, they’ve got the image to match, and their visit to Whelan’s tomorrow night will be a pretty loud one.
This is an amazing party to celebrate International Women’s Day 2015 from GirlCrew and Discotekken. They’ll be celebrating all women; from Ada Lovelace to Grace Hooper to Joni Mitchell to Amelia Earhart to Malala to Kate Bush to your Mam and every other girl in between. There’ll be Girl DJs, girl bands, cardboard cut outs of Beyonce & Mary Robinson to get your photo with. What better way to celebrate International Women’s Day, session motts assemble!
