If you want a proper Dublin city wedding, where the city becomes just as much a backdrop to your day as the reception and ceremony venues, have you thought about slap-bang-in-the-middle-of-it-all, Fallon & Byrne?
We’ve long extolled the virtues of this brilliant space, which sits pretty in a gorgeous red brick building overlooking Exchequer Street.
So here are 8 pretty compelling reasons to check it out…
1. The bang-on location
How central can you get? Fallon & Byrne is pretty much a bouquet’s throw from Grafton Street, a few minutes stroll from gorgeous photo-worthy parks like Stephen’s Green and Iveagh Gardens and right beside heaps of class pubs where ye can sink a much-needed post-wedding pint.
2. The ballroom
Holding 50-120 guests for a sit down dinner, this gorgeous space streams with light during the day and twinkles beautifully at night. Plus, with its neutral walls and dark wood floors, it’s a brilliant blank canvas for you to add your own stamp to.
3. The snack-central situation
Don’t underestimate how starving you’ll be after the ceremony… Once it’s over and you realise how non-scary and actually amazing it was, your nerves will have dissipated and you’ll be ravenous. So why not make a pit stop into Grogan’s for a cheese toastie or pop into Butler’s for a hot choc and a pastry? Bring your photographer along too – it’ll make for some cool, natural shots.
4. The magic
Fallon & Byrne is just a little bit magical – from the food hall with all manner of unusual delicacies, to the beautiful restaurant, to the basement wine cellar where guests can pop in for a tipple.
5. The bikes
There’s a dublinbike station right outside so your guests can arrive at your venue like real city slickers. That’s authenticity right there, wha?
6. The grub
Fallon & Byrne is a restaurant too, so if you’ve ever eaten there you’ll know the food is going to wow. Execetuve chef Tom Meenaghan and head chef Nick Noakes personally cook for every wedding held in the venue, so whether it’s a full sit-down meal or a canapé reception, your guests will be in for a locally-sourced, seasonally-prepared fine dining treat.
7. The extras
Because who doesn’t love loads of stuff thrown in? When you book the ballroom for your wedding the guys at Fallon & Byrne go to town on the extras – a dedicated wedding planner, silver name holders, place names and menus, plus a free post-wedding dinner in the restaurant. Sound.
8. The civil ceremony
Handily, Fallon & Byrne can also host a chic civil ceremony in the ballroom. Their special package is a pretty sweet set-up including an antique loveseat for the lovers, gilded chairs for the wedding party, an ornate altar area with a fabric backdrop and an ivory carpet aisle. So very LUSH!
