Is This The Most Exciting Stage At This Year’s Electric Picnic?

seank

There are tonnes of great acts across more than 20 stages at this year’s Electric Picnic, but here’s why Rankin’s Wood is offering something very different this weekend.

On Friday night of the festival the stage will be taken over by 2FM LIVE, one of the main partners at EP, to bring you ‘The Story Of Hip Hop’ in the most grandiose way possible — with the RTÉ Orchestra.

Led by 2FM’s MO K, he’ll join forces with the 48-strong group of musicians to take the crowd on a journey into sound, fusing the music of the streets with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, from Mary J to Dr Dre.

If this is what 2FM’s Jenny Greene and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra could do with ‘Insomnia’ by Faithless, then we can’t wait to see what MO K and the orchestra do to the greatest ever hip hop tracks…

Helping to bring ‘The Story Of Hip Hop’ to life is 2FM’s DJ Mo K, who has been a hip hop DJ for more than 16 years, along with four of Ireland’s leading rappers and singers: Jess Kavanagh, Mango, Erica Cody and Jafaris.

And then, 2FM’s Jenny Greene, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and vocalist Gemma Sugrue will take to the stage to perform ’90s club classics live. ‘Rhythm is a Dancer’, ‘Children’, ‘Not Over Yet’, ‘Everybody’s Free’ and ‘Insomnia’ are just some of the classics heard from Jenny and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra when they toured the length and breadth of the country this year.

Will you be checking out ‘The Story Of Hip Hop’ at Rankin’s Wood this Friday night? Let us know in the comments.
