There was a double celebration in Ireland last night as two National Lottery players woke up to the news that they have become the country’s newest millionaires on the same day.

The National Lottery confirmed that last night’s mega Lotto Jackpot of €7,179,959 was won by a lucky online player. And the Daily Million draw also saw a player in Dublin become an instant millionaire.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “There is great excitement in Lotto HQ today as we celebrate two massive wins in the one day – a €7.1 million Lotto Jackpot winner AND a Daily Millions winner.

There are two very happy players out there somewhere! We are looking forward to them making contact with us and seeing them in our Winner’s Room.”

This is the 5th Lotto jackpot win from online play in the history of the game, but the highest every amount won by an online player.  The previous highest win online was €5.5 million won in 2010.

On the other hand, the shop in Dublin that sold the winning Daily Million ticket was A & J Ormsby, North Circular Road.

Shop owner, John Ormsby, said customers were buzzing with news of the win. “We are over the moon at this news. This is the second time we have sold a big winning Lotto ticket. 15 years ago we had a Lotto Jackpot winner who £1.5 (Punt)

“Our shop opened 30 years ago and we have been selling Lotto tickets from the start. Our customers are very much locals. There is lots of speculation as to who the winner might be but we hope it is one of our regulars. We have four full-time and four part-time staff and we are all enjoying the excitement this has created.“

This is the first Daily Million winner of 2018. Congrats to the lucky winner.
