Once upon a time smoke machines could only make rock ‘n’ roll concerts cooler, but now they’re taking meal times to the next level too.
We’ve all been to restaurants where we’ve seen dishes uncovered only for a big puff of smoke to rise up from underneath, making you want to gasp and clap your hands childishly at the sheer theatricality of it all.
But what if we said you could recreate that very same scene in your own kitchen?
We’re not blowing smoke here folks, it’s all true.
There’s a brand new toy on the market you need to be aware of this Christmas — and we ain’t talking about Furby here. Introducing the Sage Smoking Gun, a handheld smoking tool that allows you to infuse a natural smoke flavour into cheeses, cocktails, condiments, desserts, marinades, meats and a whole lot more.
How does it work?
A question worthy of a sage.
Battery operated and straightforward to use, you don’t need to be a tech wiz or culinary genius to incorporate the Smoking Gun in your mealtimes. The tool has dual speeds for ignition and slow burn and comes with two smoke chip flavours, Applewood and Hickory, as well as a selection of recipe cards.
Applewood has a slightly sweet fruity flavour for delicate meats such as prosciutto, cheese, nuts, seafood and alcoholic drinks, whereas the strong and earthy essence of Hickory is better suited to rich foods like beef, chicken, antipasto, butter and aioli.
Before use simply load up the Smoking Gun’s large burn chamber with chips and tap out the ash after every burn cycle.
What does it look like in action?
So glad you asked. Here are just a few examples of what this bad boy is capable of…
Smoked cheese board
Smoky BBQ sauce
Smoky Bloody Mary
With one of these you’ll be smoking like a chimney in no time… but in a good way
If you want to get your hands on the Sage Smoking Gun, or know someone who’d appreciate it for Christmas, you can find them exclusively in Harvey Norman for €99.
Now put that in your pipe and smoke it (couldn’t resist).
