Watch Ray D’Arcy’s Surprisingly Touching Final Moments On ‘Den TV’ In This Clip From ’98

seank

With the announcement that RTÉ will no longer produce children’s programmes, generations of Irish people have been left feeling pretty emotional. It reminds us of the day Ray left Den TV.

If you grew up in Ireland, chances are you switched on Den TV after school, where you watched Ray D’Arcy wrestle a teddy bear and get the piss taken out of him by a turkey on a daily basis.

You might also remember the emotional turmoil that ensued when Ray left the show in ’98, and his final moments on the programme can be re-lived with the above video that recently resurfaced on Reddit.

In the clip above, Dustin, Socky and Snotser said a fond farewell to their presenter of eight years, and Zig & Zag even sent in a video message for D’Arcy (they were big shots in the UK at that point).

Sure, he went on to be replaced by Damien McCaul (essentially Ray D’Arcy-Light), but it just wasn’t the same
